Carpools
Carpooling is a cost-efficient way to commute and park on campus. Sharing a ride with a co-worker can save on gas, vehicle maintenance and parking costs, and lessens traffic congestion and pollution.
Registering your carpool with PTS Customer Service will allow you to share a parking permit with your fellow carpoolers.
Finding someone to carpool with is easy! For more information check out our site on Greenride.
Vanpools
The University of Michigan has sponsored vanpooling for its faculty and staff since the 1970s. Up to six passengers and a driver meet each day in their community and ride in together, are dropped off near work, and the van is parked in a reserved parking place on campus.
The vanpool program is very important to our department strategy for meeting the parking and transportation needs of the University, and we want to make sure it continues as a viable, sustainable program. The monthly amount is $25 per month. Payment will be through payroll deduction, and will be 'pre-tax', meaning your taxable income is reduced by $25 per month. As an incentive to van drivers, we will waive the fee for primary drivers.
If you are a member of a current vanpool and would like to discontinue riding on a vanpool you are requiired to give 30 days notice to your primary driver and to U-M.
If you are interested in joining an existing vanpool or forming a new one, please check out our site on GreenRide.
